- Morocco Pt 2 - Chefchaouen -

Now I know what you’re thinking, you “What!? You went to Chefchaouen, the blue city? How cool! It must have been so amazing! I see photos on Instagram all the time! I want to go there!” and yes, yes, it is blue and, yes, it is super cool. Should you make this the focus of your Morocco trip… uhhh no… but if your schedule allows, then yes, go there.

So, Chefchaouen is about a 5 hour drive from Tangiers. 5 hours in a car, to visit a town that probs takes about two hours to get through. For me, that was a lot… but was it worth it? were my photos amazing? Did I have a blast? The answer to all these questions is YES!

Before I went out and had my own experience, I would see photos of Chefchaouen on the gram that were always followed by some sort of inspirational quote about whoever is postings it’s life but ya know, that always leads me to wonder… why is this places the way it is? How did this happen? How is it that everyone found out about this place? Did French Montana - Famous put us all onto Chefchaouen? Maybe. But if you choose to visit here is a lil history lesson so you know why you’re going to this place.

Chefchaouen is a city in Morocco that's famous for its blue hue. It was founded in 1471 but, didn't get its distinctive color until 1492, when it received an influx of Jews escaping the Spanish inquisition, who brought a tradition of painting buildings blue. The Sephardi Jewish community that settled in Chefchaouen brought along their tradition of painting buildings blue. If you want to read more about the beautiful blue city, Insider has a really awesome article here - Step inside the Moroccan city that's painted entirely blue.

Chefchaouen was deff a highlight on my Morocco trip. I hope you like the photos and I hope they don’t leave you feeling too blue 😉
